My daughter Jenaya was born premature and developed an infection called NEC. She had surgery and ended up with a stoma. Her skin was dry and she later developed a severe case of eczema. Diagnosis: 34-week premature infant Severe eczema

This infant had a protracted stay in the hospital for medical reasons. During her stay I noted that she had thick leathery skin, which over time became very scaly and friable. There was severe involvement of the scalp. At one stage it got so severe that any rubbing with alcohol would cause the skin to bleed.
